Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 10 servings

  • 1 onion, chopped, or more to taste

  • 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon ketchup, or more to taste (Optional)

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • ½ teaspoon Hungarian paprika

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 pinch white sugar (Optional)

Directions

  1. Place onion in a food processor and pulse until onion is minced. Add lemon juice, ketchup, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and sugar and pulse until evenly combined. Transfer sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate until flavors combine, 2 to 3 hours.

Recipe Tips

If you don’t have a food processor, you can mince the onion and stir all the ingredients together.

The sauce will last a week in the fridge, or you can freeze and defrost to room temperature before serving.
